Day two of MCM London October brought us several more license announcements from Anime Limited via the News Wall at the booth, right outside the Crunchyroll screening room.
The first of these announcements was that Anime Limited had rescued Evangelion 1.11 and will be releasing the title on both blu-ray and DVD in January 2017. No information as to whether this release will be a CE has been provided as of yet.
After the second impact, all that remains of Japan is Tokyo-3, a city that’s being attacked by giant creatures that seek to eradicate the human kind, called Angels. After not seeing his father for more than eight years, Shinji Ikari receives a phone call in which he is told to urgently come to the NERV Headquarters, an organization that deals with the destruction of the Angels through the use of giant mechs called Evas. Shinji’s objective is to pilot the Eva Unit 01 while teaming up with the Eva Unit 00 pilot, Ayanami Rei.
The second announcement, another film, is for Studio 4°C’s 2001 film Princess Arete. This movie is based on Diana Cole’s story The Clever Princess. Unfortunately, no release time frame has been provided by All The Anime at this time.
Confined in the castle tower by her father, princess Arete spends her days watching the world outside her window. Sometimes she seeks out to watch the common people at work. The knights of the kingdom compete for the right to marry her and rule the land by competing to see who can find powerful magic objects made by a long dead race of sorcerers. Arete wants none of this. She longs to meet the common people and travel to exotic lands she has only seen in the books she keeps hidden under her bed. One day the sorcerer Boax arrives in a fantastic flying machine and offers to take Arete as his wife and transform her into a proper princess.
The third announcement is for Joker Game, another Crunchyroll title. Like yesterday’s Mob Psycho, this series is coming to the UK from Anime Limited, rather than under the Crunchyroll label.
With WWll right around the corner, intelligence on other countries’ social and economic situation has become a valuable asset. As a result, Japan has established a new spy organization known as the “D Agency” to obtain this weapon. Under command of Lieutenant Colonel Yuuki, 8 agents have been assigned to infiltrate and observe some of the most powerful countries, reporting on any developments associated with the war. In order to carry out these dangerous tasks, these men have trained their bodies to survive extreme conditions and studied numerous fields such as communications. Their greatest strength lies in their ability to manipulate people in order to obtain the information necessary to give their nation the upper hand.
Ace Attorney is another announced Crunchyroll title, but this one is coming soon under the Crunchyroll label rather than from Anime Limited proper.
Since he was a child, Ryuuichi Naruhodou’s dream was to become a defense attorney, protecting the innocent when no one else would. However, when the rookie lawyer finally takes on his first case under the guidance of his mentor Chihiro Ayasato, he realizes that the courtroom is a battlefield. In these fast paced trials, Ryuuichi is forced to think outside the box to uncover the truth of the crimes that have taken place in order to prove the innocence of his clients.
The final All The Anime announcement for the day was Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale, the SAO movie. This is coming to cinemas in March 2017 and is sure to excite fans of the series.
This movie takes place in-between Mother’s Rosario and the latest Alicization publication.
The movie will maintain the focus on Kirito and Asuna’s relationship but it will also highlight some other characters as well.
